HIGHLANDS – St. Jude Thaddeus Parish is hosting its circus-themed parish bazaar, Sunday, May 18, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on parish grounds. BBQ dinners, hot dogs, Mexican food, desserts, raffle with 10 prizes, silent and live auction, bingo, games, moonwalk, and slide, pony rides, train rides and more.

ST. FRANCIS CABRINI – is hosting its annual festival, Sunday, May 18, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on church grounds, 10727 Hartsook St. Food, drinks, cakes, games, prizes and music for all ages! For more information, call 713-946-5768.

HITCHCOCK – Our Lady of Lourdes will host its annual bazaar on church grounds, 10114 Highway 6, Sunday June 1, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Raffle. Favorite foods include fried chicken, Mexican food and Cajun plates, along with a variety of snacks, drinks and treats. Indoor and outdoor festival games and booths running throughout the day include silent auction and prizes such as cakes, groceries, plants, country store, jewelry and fun activities for kids of all ages. BAZAAR – Hosted by Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1401 Fidelity Rd., Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8. Both days include a big tent, food and music. Saturday, June 7, is Go Western Day with a two-step contest at 2 p.m., a Zydeco dance contest at 5 p.m. and a best-dressed Western contest, too. Music by six of the best DJs in town and J. Paul Jr. and Zydeco Nubreeds. Sunday, Zydeco by Nooney and Step Rideau. Bingo.

PEARLAND – St. Helen Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., is hosting its 42nd Annual Bazaar Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. A large variety of ethnic foods, desserts and drinks will also be available. There will be children's carnival rides, bingo in an A/C parish hall, live and silent auctions, games, arts & crafts and much more. FISH DINNERS – The Alvin-Manvel Knights of Columbus will serve fish dinners Friday, May 9, 5 to 7 p.m., at the K.C. Hall on Hwy 6 between Alvin & Manvel. All-You-Can-Eat for $8.00. BBQ & GARAGE SALE – Hosted by the Knights of Columbus, Council 3077, Friday, May 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; BBQ from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bishop Byrne Council Hall, 420 Telephone Rd. Garage Sale - Spot will be $10.00 each; bring your own table and chairs. Whatever you sell is your own profit. If you want, you can donate your items to the KC Council, and all sale proceeds will go to TX State Charities.  BBQ - Plates will be $6 and will include chicken/sausage, ranch style beans, potato salad and rice. Retreat on Christian Mysticism – The World Community for Christian Meditation presents a retreat with Father Cyprian Consiglio, OSB, titled “East and West: The Universal Call of the Spirit” on May 9 - 11, at the Dominican Sisters Meeting Room, 6501 Almeda Road. The retreat is based on the teachings and spirituality of Bede Griffiths, OSB, and Abhishiktananda (Hendri Le Saux, OSB). Prayer, song, meditation and discussion are included in this experience, which incorporates the best of Eastern philosophy and practice and Western spirituality with a special focus on the new Christian mysticism of the 21st century. “THERE WILL BE BLOOD:” – RECONCILIATION IN FAITH & CULTURE will be presented by the University of St. Thomas Center for Faith and Culture as the theme for the Fifth Annual Spirituality Seminar. ADORATION – The Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in their convent chapel on the first Sunday of every month from after the 8:45 a.m. Mass until noon.
